The time has arrived

Friday, September 5th, 2008

Well, its 1:30am and we are all at the airport waiting for the departure gate to open so we can go through customs, all a little tired but still quite excited.

Let me take you through my day so far….

A pretty ‘busy’ day at work, well actually, not really, I think the excitement overrode my productivity. But Luckily I had finished my documentation and handed everything over that needed to be done.  I can finish with a clear concience.

Once the 4pm whistle went, it was time for beer, a nice cool Corona…a quick catchup and farewell with the guys from work.   About 4:45pm, I had to duck across to the other Gen-i tower for some drinks with the netball crew….some more Corona, some snacks and a lot of laughs.  It was hard to force myself away!

I got home about 6:30 to some hungry meowing puddy tats, got them sorted, finished my packing, finished some tidying, checked my email, introduced myself to my new neighbour (and asked them to grab my mail) then into town to park my car.

I met up with the rest of the group, most of them I have met for the first time…we have..Dave, Matt, Kate, Bevan, Matt and Angela.  We went to Mai Thai for dinner at 9pm.  Not that we will be having a shortage of Thai food over the comming days!.  We finished up at 11pm, picked up by a shuttle at 12pm and were all checked in by 1am.

Everything at the airport is closed, except McD’s and a cafe…sux!…cant even have another beer before we go.

So, thats it for now…we jump on a plane for the next 15 hrs…sleeping most of the way hopefully!

 I’ll be back!….

Its almost Hump day

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008

Well, its Tuesday night and it looks like there is a bit of unrest in Bangkok.  They have decalred a state of emergency because a few people are protesting (a bit more serious that that I’m sure)!, god damn….the holiday gods are trying to keep me at work. arrrrrggghhh.

I called a travel agent to find out whats going on, and the ‘we will be in touch in the next 20 minutes’ has now turned into 3 hours….I should probably stop holding my breath now, I’m turning blue!

So, I’m kinda organised, not quite packed yet, but all my gear is about to be washed and…oh crap…I forgot, I still havent finalized my transfers for Bangkok…best I do that tonight, otherwise I might be walking to the hotel.

My babiesI have my most awesomest ex flatmate looking after my babies while I’m away, Mischeif and Trouble will be well looked after….as long as I remember something expensive (spency) and shiney.  I’m sure they will miss me, I hope they will miss me.  Thank you Suz!!!!

Right, time for me to sign off and get ready for a tough night on the couch!.

The final countdown

Sunday, August 31st, 2008

Well, there are 5 days to go before we jump on a jet plane and head to paradise.

So, the plan……

17 people, 13 days, one massive party…The Full Moon Party in Koh Phangan.  This is a party held every month to celebrate the full moon…a massive beach party with 10,000-20,000 people partying to many different DJ’s till sunrise.

Why am I going?  Well, its been a roller coaster of a year, and an oportunistic MSN chat with my buddy Dave, mentioning that I needed a holiday, but didnt really want to go away alone, ended up in an invite with all his mates to a kick ass party in a hidden paradise (what a mouthfull)…..I figured I had nothing to loose, only a fantastic experience and some awesome stories to gain.

So, its been a busy couple of weeks getting everything organised, the flights, accomodation, transfers, shopping for bits and peices, but now its all done and now we wait.  I needed a camera and a new iPod, well I didnt really need a new iPod, but thought the extra space would let me cram a few more songs and a couple of movies on for the looooong trip.  Thanks to Aleisha’s abundance of ‘acquired’ music , I have a good selection of tunes to keep myself amused….thanks sweetie!

The flight leaves at 3:15am Saturday morning and we fly to Brunei, then to Bangkok, where we will spend a couple of days.  We leave Bangkok on Monday 8th and fly to Koh Samui, where I think we catch a ferry to Koh Phangan.

I have never put a Blog together before, so thought I would give it a try, I will see how diciplined I can be at documenting my travels, I suck at documenting, so this will be interesting.  I guess everything starts with intention!

So, this is my first entry…lets see how I go.
